Hi Fellas

What type of Tyre pressure monitoring system do Fiat employ on all new cars? I assumed that they would be indirect but from what I can glean of the web it seems like it might be direct, I have looked at the owners handbook for my 2018 Panda Cross but nothing is mentioned and the sales brochure just mentions TPMS. I am hoping that it is indirect as that seems less problematic and cheaper in the long term.
Any ideas guys?

Thanks in advance!

I am told there are no wheels sensors the system works through the ABS based on rotational speed difference caused by under inflated tyres. Pressure needs to drop to about 5psi before they do anything which is not much use as far as I am concerned...

That's quite a clever solution though. no extra sensors needed only a bit of software code.

I like the idea of having no sensors in the wheels, no need to replace them or batteries and if your tyres drop 5psi you might not notice over a period of time but if the sensor picks it up that's gonna save you a few bob in fuel/tyre wastage and there is the safety aspect to consider too.
