Pre-Reg Tipo 1.6 multijet engine diag light on, ideas?

Hi, I’d settled on a pre-reg Tipo 1.6 multijet after seeing some great deals in the last few weeks. I saw one which looked nice and put down a holding deposit. I noticed a dpf regen light was on in the advert pic and queried with the dealer and he assured me it wasn’t a problem but would be checked. So I go there today, a 4hr trek to go there, only to find the car not prepped. I hang around for 40mins or so and finally get to go out in it with a salesman. I immediate notice a couple of warning lights. An A with a arrowedcircle and the engine management light. But what struck me was it was utterly gutless. I was gutted. The dealer just dismissed it saying it would be checked over before it went out and would I like to finalise the deal! I believe the ‘A’ warning is the stop/start disabled warning and I suspect the utter lack of go is the car going into limp home mode and hence the engine management light. But what on earth could trigger this on s brand new car, albeit one registered a few months ago?! Many thanks for your thoughts everyone!

Steer well clear I would say, you will just be gaining somebody’s else’s problem.....
