I get a vibration in my auto 1.4 at 67km/hr and above, more vibration under load,
engine and tranny feel good at all revs and shifts gears nicely..........rotated tires and replaced wheel bearing one side(that improved vibrations a bit)(but not cured).
My educated guess is driveshafts, but don't click in turns, no movement when I grab shafts.
I believe its the inner Tripod bearings...............

My question is: Can I just take the shafts out and clean and repack the bearing housing........will that solve the problem or can I change the tripod bearings separately??

Anyone with same problem?
car has 85,000km
Thanks, Papabear.

Thanks,
Yes pulling them out and examining the best idea.
I am just surprised that no one else has a similar problem, and a solution......was hoping I was wrong and a simpler solution.
I have read that regular wheel bearing grease is not best for the tripod needle bearings, anyone have any lube recommendations?

Hi @papabear 123,
You don't say what car you have. Several have the tripod or "tulip" joints. It's known problem on the bigger Croma that I have. Re-packing with grease may help. The grease is normally a semi-liquid type with molybdenum so dary grey or black. You cn get it in joint sized packs. Don't know of a local supplier for you, Canadian tyre only seem to have it as part of a CV joint repair kit.
Joint repair kits or new joints are normally available but I'd need car details to be sure.
