Advice please on a strange Multiecuscan result

Hi all a while ago I posted a question about a strange result on Multiecuscan,
My vehicle is a 2102 Doblo 1.3 multijet with DPF, the question was regarding a sub section in “PROXI ALIGNMENT PROCEDURE” under engine type it states Gasoline !!! my van is most defiantly diesel.
Should I change the very wrong setting back to diesel and possibly risk a faulty proxi alignment or leave it well alone, the van has not long had a MOT and the vehicle emissions where all fine, but I cannot help but think that having that setting in a diesel van must have some adverse effect within the various computer modules within the van.
I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this “fault” and if indeed it might cause some adverse effect and needs to be changed.

Need a little more info. Doblo type 119, 152, 263,?

Not having a Doblo I can only run in simulation mode and on the Adjustments F7 of PROXI I see Engine Type = Diesel.

In addition I don't think you can change that parameter from Petrol to Diesel unless you do a custom alignment and "mess" with all the hex codes which can be very dangerous if you get it wrong. Also all the proxi byte codes and what they do/change have not been publically released by Fiat. People seem the determine what they do by back to back comparisons. A common change people make is to change the dash display images.

Do all of the devices found seen logical (correct)

ABS..IF present.

Programming date of units.

Power steering.. etc

Hi thanks for the reply, the van is a 2012 doblo 263 with a 1.3 multijet diesel with DPF and a engine type A2000 in PROXI ALIGNMENT mode mode you can change from diesel to gasoline and vise versa without committing to writing the changed value to the body computer, but like I say the van seems to be OK emissions wise but I am just unsure if there might be some detrimental effect leaving it on gasoline.
When connected to Multiecuscan it can see the van correctly and there is no connection faults etc. But with never having to do a PROXI ALIGNMENT I don't know if there are any risks involved, I don't know if there is or has been a fault with the body computer or if it has been disconnected in the past when it was owned by Scottish & Southern Power for the fitting of extra power points and flashing roof lights and that's why it shows the wrong engine type.

Hello thank you for replying to this thread, it shows all present and correct modules without faults it correctly shows that I have a DPF, stop start, power steering etc it is just this gasoline instead of diesel, I appreciate it could be nothing BUT if the body computer "thinks" there is a petrol engine type there must be certain parameters the computer sets (what ever they my be) instead of the settings for a diesel engine. I just dont want to, for want of a word balls up the van as I use it for work, do a PROXI ALIGNMENT, (as when connected it says one is not required) and find in doing so it messes up the body computer, I know there's a slight chance of that happening but looking on multiecuscans forms it does happen.

I've gone back into MES in Simulate mode form your 263 and see that you can change the type of engine from petrol to diesel.

I would do the following:


Do the Scan and note the engine ECU listed.
Connect to the engine ECU and check that every thing looks as it should.
Go to the actuators and run the Glow Plug Relay Test. Should function OK.

If all is well then it is worth trying the change in proxi from petrol to diesel. As you are not doing a custom "byte" data change then the risk is minimal.

You could alternatively contact MES Support directly (not via forum) and ask them the same questions and see what they reply with. If anybody does know the significance of the proxi Petrol / Diesel setting then they will.

My suspicion is that this setting affects auxiliary information like trip computer values of "Miles To Empty" on a full tank fill up and the relevant warning light for fuel. Could be that the Scotish & Southern drivers were constantly running out of fuel and some bright spark said "I know how to make them fill up earlier....".

I'm the main/only moderator over on the MES Forum and I've not seen your question/issue being discussed before (as far as I can recall). Certainly please do a search before posting to ensure there is no existing info that I can not recall.

Your last port of call, especially as a fee paying customer is to contact MES Support directly.

I sense you do not have a pressing PROXI configuration issue that needs rectifying immediately as all is well with your vehicle so post on the forum and see what transpires. If nothing of value then do go and contact MES Support.
