Hi,
weird issue.. I need to attempt a repair on a FORD EcoBurst,

ideally accessing through the sump drain hole...

a quick scan of Ebay seems to find Oriental USB jobbies for a Fiver,

or Sealey, etc = decent garage spec for £100

I'm looking at the oil pump / pick-up strainer.. it could save me a days work if that's not the issue.(y) rather than sump off for nothing..:bang:

anybody here used a borescope to give me some pointers.. :)

Cheers,
Charlie

Hi,
I have a USB 7mm one bought on ebay. It is pretty good when used on a laptop. About an 8 foot lead with built in LEDs. I don't think the ones with a built in screen are as good unless you pay a lot for them. I don't have the ebay number or seller info as it as a while ago that I bought it. Cost under £10 though. Windows XP recognises it as a webcam so you don't even need software.

Hi Charlie, the cheap USB ones tend to have a focal length that is too long for looking into a cylinder via the spark plug hole, but should be fine for peeking into the sump.

I have one, which you are welcome to use. If it gets covered in oil and ceases to work, no worries.

Squeak at me, PM, or call me, we can arrange a meet and handover.
