Hello,
I'm Koert and I want to build a Fiat 126 with a bike engine. I have seen videos and read threads and forums about them but I have a couple questions.
I know you have to have a chain drive build so you can power a rear end with the chain and sprocket from the bike.
So, is there a way you could keep the stock axles?
I also heard of people who bought a rear end of a Mazda Miata, had that converted to chain drive and used that, but if I'm not mistaken that would also require the axles to be shorted at least a little bit. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Now I was thinking if I have to buy a rear end anyway, and have to axles shortened it might be better to buy a rear end that has 5 lug nuts ( rather than four like the Miata) and disk brakes.
5 lug nuts also offer much more options for performance breaking and wheels. I was thinking maybe something off an older BMW?
