Potential electronic latch failure, or that of the wiring loom into the tailgate.

If you access the back of the boot from inside the car through the back seats
There's a small lever/switch if the side of the boot latch mechanism that you can try pressing to see if it opens it up

Hi Chris. I've done that and I have the boot open. However when re closed it simply locks down again. Doesn't activate off the fob or the handle. I've seen other posts and it usually appears that if the handle doesn't work the fob does. Or, vice- versa. I have got the lock off. All of the central locking works as does the rear screen and wiper.:bang:

Spray the handle area with wd 40 I believe there is a micro switch there.

Failing that I am sorry to say you will more than likely have the dreaded broken wire issue inside the rubber tubing between car and boot lid.
Only thing to do is cut open the rubber tubing without damaging the bung ends where they go into the metal body. dont be supprised to find more than one wire broken, the wire quality is sh*t.

Hi Chris. Yep broken cable..Purple snapped and 2 black ones exposed. Piece of cable threaded through to the bottom of the hatch to outside n/s at mo. Not going out to try to fix as the soldering iron just can't keep up.
