Hey Guys , it has been a long time since i been here .

Last week , i had to replace the cam belt on my Fiat Croma 1.9jtd 16 valve.

After the replacement i tried to start-up the engine and..... i didnt torc the cam belt tensioner hard enough so it loosent up, with the result of a pop, hiss and snapped the cam belt. (yes my own fault i know !)

yesterday i fitted a new cam belt , so far so good..... tried to start the engine but nothing

Engine turned round but it would not start.

So i just removed the cam shaft cover to look for broken rockers.... and nothing

The only thing i could find was a broken clips on one of the rockers (see picture) So the valve pusher does not sit attached to the rocker arm.

Could this be enough for the engine not to start, or is something else going on?

ps: i pushed all valves down manually and they come smoothly right up like they should.

sorry for my bad (school English, like my name says i am from Belgium)

Snapping a cam belt (especially a new one takes some serious) energy. If the tensioner was not quite torque up enough then the belt would almost certainly jump and not snap.

When you replaced the belt did you use a proper timing tools. (flywheel lock, crank positioner and the cam shaft timing pins)?

If not then you have probably got the timing all screwed up for sure. With crank and camshaft timing sensors then unless they are happy with their relative positions then the engine ECU will not allow the engine to start.
