So because parts are ridiculously overpriced in Australia I ordered a flywheel and other parts from http://www.bestpartstore.co.uk/ as my clutch is slipping and apparently clutch (kit), flywheel and slave cylinder need to be replaced....

I have ordered some parts from them for my Bravo 1.4T-Jet Sport once before without a problem.

Unfortunately, this time they are messing me around. I received an email saying that they did not have the flywheel I ordered (415 0417 10 LuK) and instead substituted another (415 0678 10 LuK) and it was cheaper(!) They asked if I could just provide them with my registration details so they could make sure it was compatible with my car. I told them (by reply less than 12 hours later) that as I was in Australia it was unlikely the registration number would help, but I sent them my VIN and the OEM part number. A few hours later I received an email saying my order had been packed for dispatch. I sent another email requesting confirmation that the part was correct - and received a reply saying that unfortunately the part was not correct, but had already shipped and the only thing I could do was wait for it to be delivered, not accept it/return it and they would refund my money when the received the part back...anyway, I am now rather annoyed and trying to get them to immediately send the correct part or refund my money so that I can buy the part somewhere else and drive my car with confidence again. :bang:

Anyway, point of all this is that when I look at the two parts it seems that the only difference is in the max clearance angle (degrees) - one is 17, one is 19. What is this? What difference does this make - and both of these parts are described elsewhere as being suitable for my car, although the OEM number is different for the substitute part.

It looks like the part on its way is the latest number from LUK, to replace the earlier numbers. From their catalogue, it looks fine.
Hey, thanks - So why are the parts store now saying it won't fit my car? And what does the 17 vs 19 max clearance angle mean?

This is my VIN: ZFA19800004124786
And these are the OEM parts, apparently:

clutch kit: 55219388
slave cylinder with pressure bearing: 55209342
flywheel: 55209664

Appreciate any more info you can give :)

Sorry, I only know what I found in the LUK catalogue. I remembered I had a link to it from when I fitted a new master cylinder.

I've always tried to stay away from diesels, so didn't pay enough attention when introduced to dual-mass flywheels.

The parts store are probably covering themselves, as the latest part number was not originally listed for your car. However, parts specifications change, and in many cases a newer design or specification will be compatible with earlier vehicles. This is what the LUK catalogue is telling me. I would trust LUK, they are a good brand and will not risk their reputation on poor information.

The 'clearance angle' suggests to me that his might be how far the dual-mass mechanism will travel, whether at full travel, or perhaps its first travel before meeting resistance. Either way, it is a small difference, possibly to damp the forces more, so helping prevent future failures. If mine, I'd be happy to trust LUK and as long as it physically will fit, go with it.
