Car locks itself while motor running and "keyless" transmitter is in car - Freemont

Today a very irritating thing occured when i was about to go home from work in my FIAT Freemont Black Code 2014. I started the engine, and left the vehicle with the keyless remote in the car. I shut the door. The car locked itself and there was no way I was getting back in there. Snowing outside, -15 celsius degrees and the engine running. Spare key at home, 45 minutes away with car. Had to call a road assistance firm to get them to open the door (car thief style)! I took them an hour before they arrived. The FIAT/Mopar dealer says they have never heard of this problem, ever. You should not be able to lock the keys in the car like this.

Has this happened to anyone in this forum, I would be grateful to hear what you have to say about this.

I also faced similar situation last week and what I did was:

- -I looked for a thin strong metal wire with a small end.
- -I inserted it by the side of the front door from the top. It is to be done carefully so that the glass will not break.
- - After applying some force I was able to create a long little opening and then tried to force the flexible iron through the opening. After much efforts I succeeded in locating the auto button on the driver’s door and the alarm started its work , waking everyone around the neighborhood.
