Hi, I recently had my 2006 MK2's engine overhauled and it like a beauty.

I am still in love with the car and have no plans of letting it go. Also discovered the advantages of Liqui Molly oil and it feels brand new.

My question is as follows... I am not too excited about the car revving so high at 120kmh (75mph) and was thinking of modifying the gearbox.

I am in South Africa and options to change to another model's gearbox is limited, since FIAT models here are in the minority.

Can someone perhaps advise me on changing gear ratios or the driveshaft gear or something.

Advise would really be appreciated.

Regards

Hugo

I know this thread is old but is there a difference in palio 1.7 td and strada 1.7 td final gear ratios? I found specs online that shows palio revving almost 600rpm lower in 5th gear, around 2500 rpm at 100kmh, any owners able to confirm this? And the gearbox code? My strada does 3100 rpm at 100 kmh, absolute stupidity for diesel, consumption is around 15kmpl, with ac on highway at 90 to100 ish kmh, realy poor
