I'm trying to remove the rad/intercooler on my Croma. The e-learning indicates that the aircon must be drained, is this necessary? And if so can this be done at home (all the talk of high prssure valves and a picture of a big cojmjpressor got me worried!)? I can't tell if the air con is somehow connected to the main rad, or has it's own circuit and cooler.

Ideally I would leave the air con alone and just remove the main rad.

thanks

Of course the A/C has it's own cooling system, incl. a kind of radiator, placed in front of the "normal" radiator.
According to your questions, you have no knowledge about a car a/c system at all.
It is very easy to destroy this system, in a way it will never work again, unless you're willing to spend a lot of money...and I realy mean a lot...!!
So best advice here: don't fool around with the a/c system, but see a specialist instead.

I dont want to mess with the air cooling system, which was clear in the question. I want to remove the radiator and the e-learning states that the air con should be drained and seems to indicate some hoses need to be disconnected. I was asking if this can be avoided.

having had a long look through the e-learn and at the car in the garage this evening, I think this is going to be tricky to avoid so I'm going to get a local firm to come and drain the air con system then I can strip it all out with peace of mind that I'm not damaging the ozone layer.:) I think better that than toolin g around and then breaking it and having the collant spray out.
