Hi,

I bought a registered version of ECU scan 2.6 and am having problems
connecting with my ELM 327 interface.

I installed the drivers from FTDI site: CDM v2.12.06 WHQL Certified
and have the usb ELM interface connected to 'comm port 7'. Installing
the drivers got rid of the exclamation point from my device manager
and in properties for comm port 7, it says "Device is working
properly". However, when i go to Multiecuscan under settings and press
the test button, i get the message:

"Access to the port 'COM7' is denied."

I get the same message when i try to connect to the gear box. it says
"Access to the port 'COM7' is denied. Check your cable and serial port
settings"

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

thank you,

Hi,
Need a bit more information really. The issue seems to be with the FTDI USB to RS232 bridge chip.
1/ Where did you get your ELM 327 interface? Many of the chinese clones use counterfit FTDI USB chips and some of the genuine FTDI drivers disable them.

2/ What operating system are you running?

It may be worth un-installing all the FTDI drivers, including any downloaded files. Then re-install with the drivers on the disk that came with the interface.
