Was just pinned in my grand punto 1.9 and the temperature hit boiling point, so i stopped and when i turn it back on the heaters are cold eventhough the temperature is at 90, anyone know?

It sounds very much like it's just shifted a load of air that's inside the cooling system,
now blocking the flow through the heater matrix !

there SHOULD be some small plastics screws on the rubber hoses that run from the engine to the car interior ( matrix / dashboard),

with the engine cold-carefully undo one a little then lightly close it,
then the other one( may only be one on your model..??)

now start the engine - once some temp is showing on temp gauge then CAREFULLY , open the screws a couple of turns - until coloured fluid ( coolant)starts to dribble out,
then close that screw and do the other -if fitted,

that should have removed the bulk of the trapped air,

keep an eye on you colant level for the next few days too!!,

have fun,
Charlie

The other possible is that when the temp shot up a lot of coolant blew out of the expansion tank to waste so you have little water left in the system.
No water in engine = no water in heater matrix = equals cold air blowing into the cab and if you don't stop within feet, a major repair is next.

I had this happen on a hire van which one would assume was in good order (it wasn't anything near new!) when delivering from Yorkshire to Cheddar (J22 M5). Had a cold ride down and it was hard work going north back up the M5 until it died, chugging at Cribbs Causeway (J19). Had to be relayed back home - got free hire but the hassle was a total PITA. I hope they scrapped it after that - well past sell (hire) by date!

Yeah i just checked my water and theres a little bit left in there, if i fill her up she should be okay? Do you think any of the hoses are blown off?

I can't quite see from here but M-E-P is right - top up again and after the temp gets to normal, check the hoses and block and radiator and pipes to the inside of the cab on the firewall to see if there's a leak somewhere (there must be unless you're paddling in the cab and haven't notice the trench-foot yet) as there will be a distinct wet-dog smell under the bonnet and steam too possibly - but deffo a puddle somewhere for all that lot to have gone AWOL.

Good luck ;)

Haha cheers mate :) i topped it up earlier and i cant see any leaks and the water level hasnt dropped yet so ill wait and see tomorrow

Check the water pump is moving water its not unknown for the impella to disintegrate when was the cam belt and water pump last changed and how old is the car / mileage

Ive had it all checked today couldnt see anything obviously wrong with it, cam belt was changed on last service at 62k, not sure about water pump, its a 56 plate 80k on the clock now

Two immediate thoughts:
  1. Water pump should really have been changed with the cam belt.
  2. 18,000 miles is a long time between services.

I just looked at both cam belt and water pump were changed at 72k on the service
