Reason i ask is i bought a 5litre tub a few months back ready for an oil change and ive just used it for top ups until now when i want to swap the lot as its due a change.

But having read the user manual it specifies 5w/40....

Like a dummy i never checked this when i went to buy the oil i just checked them all out and picked a mobil1 turbo diesel fully synthetic oil.

Do you think its okay to use perhaps just for a few weeks till i can swap it to 5w/40?

Thanks, R.A.W

I wouldn't. The book specifies an oil type of a reason.

No problem at all, you'll be perfectly safe with this oil.
Mobil 1 is one of the best oils on the market right now.
0W40 and 5W40 are almost the same viscosity, the first is only slightly thinner at a cold start but it will not harm your engine in any way at all.
Just use it, my advise though, is to stick with it for the time you own the car, don't switch between brands and viscosities.
