Flashing red battery sign along with yellow car with padlock through it any ideas what the issue is?

Anti theft light. Key fob battery or fob playing up unless you've had a recent electical addition done, stereo for example. No idea on solution other than Fiat but forum members may know.

is it a punto Mk2b you have ?

the car with a padlock though it indicates a problem with the immobaliser which would explain the car not starting.
the flashing battery symbol shouldn't be, which makes me wonder if what you actually have is a knackered battery and on starting the starter solenoid is flashing the rest of the electrical systems,

first job is to charge or replace the battery in my view

Thanks guys, it is a mk2b punto. have tried jump starting but that had same result so not battery. it has a 2 month old starter so unlikely to be that. Also tried bump starting it still didn't work so rules out the solenoid. Also no new electrical devices for over a year. :bang:

imobaliser fault! hence the code light, of course it won't push, jump, bump or any other start for that matter.

what i said was charge or replace the battery, if you are happy that the battery isn't too old then get it on a charger.

do you have more than one key for the car, have you tried starting it with any other keys you have.

check fuse box for anything that might be blown, in all honesty i am giving you things to try but in the back of my mind i have a suspicion your body computer has failed given the symptoms

Turns out when I had a new gearbox fitted over the winter the garage didn't re fit the earth ontop of the gearbox correctly. This caused an electronic meltdown causing all sorts of lights to come on. Thanks for the help.
