How difficult is it to change suspension springs yourself, is it worth paying someone to do it at a garage?

Im looking to get large spacers for my standard mk2b wheels, the gap betweenthe tyre tread and arch is about 5.5 cm... Which to get and where to buy?..

Im thinking of either installing underseat subs or speakers, can i do this with my alpine amp? it doesnt have another sub port or any more ports for speakers.. whats the best thing to do?
