sporting cooling fans stuck on.

hi all recently baught a 1.2 16v punto sport 52. the cooling fans come on as soon as i put the key in the ignition and stay on high speed whilst driving ? how can i diagnose it and what is usually the problem ? thanks richy..

Looking at Haynes, the relay get's its signal from the engine management rather than a dedicated switch like on older cars.
What is your engine temperature gauge doing? behaving normally?
