Hey guys ive got a set of standard punto mk2 headlights. Is it ilegal to drive at night with no sidelights just the main driving lights? All the other bulbs work perfect?

I'd say Yes it's illegal as it is an MoT fail.

We have had a lot of these through court recently, it seems the latest mod is to wire your sidelights so that they can be switched off and you have just headlights on at the front of the car. That gets you 3 points and a fine because the law is that headlights, sidelights, tail lights, brake lights, indicators and number plate lamps must all work at all times.

the relevant law is :-

schedule 2 Road traffic Offenders Act 1988

Why would anybody want to do this? Was bad enough with everybody thinking they look cool driving round with front fog lights on. Totally against the law and clearly show what ...... they are.

i agree why on earth would you want that and also i think it would just look like you have both bulbs out :nutter:

Cover these lighting laws. you have to have all lights working as per "MOT".even fog lights at rear.

will figure out a other way to mount my rainbow sidelights in the headlight. While keeping the standard headlight sidelights there also

Not C&U but the laws as I posted.

its not illegal JUST using sidelights when in street lit areas tho i hear. may be wrong tho.
