Hi all, will try posting here as I am not having much luck on the Punto Forum.
My sons M reg 1.7td Punto recently had a problem where the ignition switch shorted out and caused the wiring from the switch right through to the engine bay to catch fire and melt!

A local breakers yard had what looked like a MK1 1.7td Punto in for breaking so I went along and removed its loom.

There are a couple of differences and whilst my sons car is up and running there are a few connectors in the new loom that are not connected and a few parts that are now not connected as the connectors are different.

On my sons early MK1 there are 2 connectors on the fuel filter housing. I believe one is a preheat for low temps. These 2 connectors are not connected at the mo. Also as you look at the engine at the top right is a connector in the intake? It has two spade connectors on it but there is nothing on the new loom to fit these.

On the new loom I have the following connectors not being used. Are these anything to do with what I have disconnected and if so which is which? I can splice the new to old without any problems.

I have One blue connector that has 2 wires, one black/purple, the other blue/white.
Another Blue connector, again 2 wires, black/purple and red/black.
One black connector, 2 wires, Black/purple and green/yellow
Finally one black connector that was blanked of when removed from newer car so dont think it is needed at all but it has 2 wires, one black, the other red/white.

The loom was taken from what looks to be a MK1 but on my receipt it says MK2 W reg loom. I didnt think the MK2 came with the 1.7TD engine and unless the 1.9 looks the same with same air filter housing etc then it was certainly a late MK1.

Any electrical gurus in the house? TIA.
