i just bought a set of new clocks for my mk2 punto

my genuine milage is 42k
the clocks i bought are 108k

i dont want to change the new clocks to the genuine milage, i just wanna declare the change of clocks and have both milages recorded so i can prove the genuine milage if i sell it, that possible?

if anyone knows how, let me no
thx

Well you could book a formal MOT.

Best/Worst case is that you have travelled 66K miles in one year or 66K miles in one day/month.

Doing this will fully prime the official systems, however there will be the possibility that you did drive 66K miles in as little as one day! Hooligan!!!!!!

Other option is to contact DVLA and enquire further.

That, together with of a photo of the old clocks in situ and also holding the new ones so they are visible should be proof enough.

ps. You could also have a copy of a newspaper with date visible but quite honestly as we're not talking about a masssively expensive car here I would think your word and the old clocks should be enough for anyone except the most sceptical of people.

Change the cluster to what you want but if it doesn't match body computer you get issues ;)

Not really, who says the ecu is the original ecu to the car? Also even if its the original one who says its not been used in another car? Doesn't prove a thing if the ecu has a different mileage on.

And also the intention here is to lower the cluster to the original cluster so the ecu+cluster will match

I'm not on about ECU, I'm on about Body Computer, different things in the CANBUS system ;)

These parts cannot be used second hand in a different vehicle, only new or factory referbished as all the ecu's etc are coded together, and will only accept new replacement other parts, not used.

As a result, the likly hood of the mileage not being correct in the body computer is very slim and is not going to be the mileage of another car (y)

Listen.. ecu + cluster = 42k

new cluster = 108k

change new cluster to 42k and everything matches

What other 'magical' things on the CANBUS system there is nothing on a mk2 punto, also the ecu + body computer can easily be changed to another car, hence the mileage could be wrong.

Also on most other cars paired devices on a CANBUS system can be repaired to work on other cars so can be used again.

Thanks Dave, thought I was going a bit insane at first.

Then again I might well be, because apparently I know nothing

Whether its stored in the ecu or BC doesn't change a thing.

I didn't say you didn't know anything, but you said you can't change the mileage down, and instead of accepting that you were wrong you said about matching the mileage with the BC which has no revelenace with the OP as they want the lower the mileage to MATCH the current cluster / BC

As most people know you can easily change the BC and ecu and it will work fine. Also you can even virignized these parts to reuse them separately

I have a Punto MKII diesel van. I have upgraded the original ugly clocks for the petrol with revcounter and temp gauge. The mileage on the cluster was higher than mine. You need to change the mileage with the fiat KM tool(it works both up or down mileage correction)If you install the new cluster with different mileage the body module ecu will detect the difference in mileage and the digital display will start flashing....

Fiat puntos do recognise the change of cluster so you need to match the new cluster with the module with a good scan tool.As far as I know you don't neet the secret code number.(y)
