Now before I start, I know what I'm proposing isn't going to be easy by any stretch of the imagination so what I'm basically after - is it possible, and if so what would be required to do it.

My plan when the Seicento has a 1242 upgrade is to use the 1108 in the back of the 126. I know that an adaptor plate can be made up to mount the 126's 4-spd box to the fire engine, thus keeping the RWD so that's not a problem. What I'd like to do though, is use the Sei gears in the 126 box to create a 5-spd that I can use like I do the Sei at the moment.

I know I'm barking mad, and I also know that - if it is indeed possible - it's not going to be easy. Any thoughts?

You wouldn't be able to put the seis internals in the 126's as the gears are certain dimensions etc so would not physically fit - you may have to source different ratio gears to go in the original 126 box. Try finding a decent gearbox specialist who can 'build' a gearbox for you with custom ratio gears (y)
