i know this should go in the ice section, but i want it to be stilo specific.

has anyone had any experience with sound deadening a stilo?

i would be looking at doint the doors, rear panels, and boot. maybe bulkhead/dash. id like to do the floor, but it will be too much of a hassle.

il be using damplifier pro from caraudiodirect.

THEN il be looking at replacing my speakers with 2-way components at the front and probably 3 way full ranges in the back. i dont really want a sub, but i might got for it.

so any input from anyone who has messed with sound deadening in the stilo is welcome. also some pointers on the speakers would be fab. (y)

i dont want to spend much, but i also dont want to do it again if you know what i mean ;)

im thinking polk, but there quite hard to get hold of and a tad expensive

I went through this over a year ago and theres something about the Stilo design which doesn't lend itself to an easy install. The doors are made of twin skins so getting the material on the inside is a case of cutting small patches and placing them one by one. It's a bugger and I gave up quite soon after starting. Boot is easy.

All four speakers are 6.5" and when I replaced all those with comps it basically did away with the two subs I had in the rear. I went for Clarion SRR1725's (180W) at the time, expensive but incredible sound quality.

If you do a search on "pod" in stilo there will be a picture/guide I put up around modifying the original speaker pods so you dont need speaker adapters, works a treat and its so simple. Upgrading the speakers in a Stilo is a basic mod that makes a massive difference.

Try A1 motorstores/Motorbitz. I use them a fair bit for little things and I always notive they've got a shed load of Polk stuff in. You need a 'Motorbitz' really, not an A1. Motorbitz are like Halford's Ripspeed or Motorworld's 'Cruizin'. They do all the tuning/styling/ICE stuff.

chris, motorbitz site is down so cant look there. iv managed to get my hands on an alpine high (speaker) level to low (RCA) level converter to enable the connection of an amplifier to the connect nav, but it looks like i need another one if i am to amplify the front and rear speakers and a sub. im still in a dilemma over the speakers, most of what i heard arent any special, i mean the stock speaker sound pretty good. threres a set of soundstream components on fleabay im thinking of as the polk lot is £230, £149.99 for the components (100w RMS) and the mid-range 17" £79.99 (60 RMS), plus theyre exclusive to motorworld.

bozzy, i know you highly praise the clarions you have fitted, are you running them off your headunit or are they amped?

ok, since this thread is a bit quiet, i thought id stick in some pics. i know that always gets you lot excited (y)

the Polk MOMO MMC6500 comps:

and to keep bozzy happy i got myself a little toy till i get the whole connect+ carputer thing sorted ;) :

now because i had the connect nav in there before, im assuming i need a normal stereo cage from fiat as the facia isnt held onto anything?

what do you guys think?

yup, its LG LAC-M8600R Bluetooth, pretty good it is too. got it just for you bozzy (y)

now i have actually bought the stuff, just waiting for the speakers, however im a bit warey of the mounting depths of the speakers. did you have any issues bozzy? is there enough space? theyre not much deeper than the JL Audio speaker that stilo joe has
