I have recently moved from the Cinq Sporting life to the Stilo Abarth 20v.

I haven only now realised that Tony Blair on his never ending quest to save the planet "COUGH" "stealth tax the british public". I was wondering if anyone knew what tax bracket the car falls into. I have bought a late 04 plate which came with 6 months tax which was nice of the the main agent, but I am worried now after buying my gorgeous car that good ol' Tony is gonna tax me off the road. I have heard horror stories of cars with high emmisions being put into a new bracket that is going to rise to £400 a year. I have looked at the DVLA website still am not so sure. It states that the new bracket G only effects cars made after April 2006, so does this place me in band F or am I infact in band G :(.

The Stilo Abarth's emmissions are scary, in comparison to my cinq it's like driving a formula one car hehe, im very happy with it and enjoying the fact that so far none of the following have happened due to traffic cailming measures such as:

  • ripped off sump
    • ripped off exsaust system
      • floor damage
        • fuel tank holed

So it's such a nice feeling to know that my Stilo isn't going to get destroyed by Tony's "Lets make it safer for pedestrians" and distroy everyone's cars hehe. Not that im bitter at all, hence me having no choice and if he's going to make me pay excessive ammounts for a 1.6 why the hell not have a 2.4.

Im considering moving to Southern Ireland to escape this dreadful government, no offence to any Labour Lovers, but I totally hate everything they have come to stand for in my eyes a lighter shade of blue.

Anyway enough ranting, I would really appreciate it if somone could put my mind to rest about this tax connundrum, weather it be good or bad hehe.

Thanks again,

Warren

Really! The same as a 7 litre Rolls??! ********...thats road tax going up to £400 a year then if the rumours are true.....and my car just lost most of its value!:(

We could do with clarification....because lets face it, if they stick the Abarth in the top band it is going to make them really hard to sell and cost a fortune.

Tax increase

Road Tax going up to £300 immediately and up to £400 next year!

HOLY F**K:cry:

Its all a bit confusing I'm not sure if its bad news or not, I just looked at my V5 and my 2002 abarth co2 is 231 G/KM which according to the BBC news website is in band G, but it has ** next to it saying for cars registered after 23/03/06, as band F is only upto 225 G/KM I'm not exactly sure where we fall:eek: . I'm paying £190 at the mo which is the price for band F.
If anyone can come up with a deffinitive answer it would be good to know for sure.

Right, just had a look on DVLA and the abarth is Band F - £190 a year

any car registered after 23rd March - Band G - £210 a year

But my step-dads mondeo is a 53 reg and like I said he pays £210 a year, I don't get it
Dan I think you were looking at the wrong bracket £190 applies to alternative fuels TC59, I believe we come under Petrol cars TC48 for which the price will be £205.
Panic over I think, well for this year anyway(y)

Re: Tax increase

Only on the juicey one registered after march 2006.
I just check DVLA site about stilo abarth still band F but now gone upto £205 a £15 increase.:D

Its gonna hit the Abarth and Shoowee and 1.8 hard

Will make the 1.6 more popular tho :slayer:

Re: Tax increase

Just think of all the Abarth owners clambering to buy a 1.6 :D the price of mine has just doubled
