Sorry if I appear stupid, but how do you go about taking the centre covers of the Stilo alloy wheels? I have the standard 16in Dynamic wheels, and although I can see a small cut in the edge of the cap to put -something- in to lever it, I cannot find anything suitable. I've tried a flat screwdriver but stopped as it looked like it was about to eat into the alloy. I've looked at the tools that come with the spare, and I appear to have one tool possibly missing ie there is a clip to hold something small, but nothing there. When I got the car, the anti-theft bolts had already been put on, so Im worried that was the tool and they've not put it back.
I don't actually need to change a wheel at the moment, but I'd like to be able to do so without damage, as obviously I don't know where or when I'll need to.
What do others use?

Thanks.

You can do it with a screw driver. Cover it with something though. I went to the garage to change mine last October (to put the winter tires on) and they scratched all the rims (plus that they broke a couple of the teeth that the plastic cover of the rim has in order to bolt on the wheel) [:(!]. I was so upset. Now that I'm going to put up the summer tires again, I'll take off the plastic covers by myself and let them do the rest!

since we are talking about wheels igot a question for you guys, something that ive noticed ... after you take off your wheel have you seen the two little metal things that stick outside ... and the FIAT wheel has a place for them ... so other wheel than FIAT's ones cannot be fitted.am i wrong?

the alignment lugs only work with steel wheels, any almost every aftermarket alloy won't be affected by them. It's not a great idea to fit wheels off different cars anyway

Met Cognac 99 Brava 100 HSX,

Thanks. My little screwdriver is missing [:(!]
I just tried a screwdriver with a cloth warapped around it and that worked fine, so thanks for the tip.

On a slightly different note, looking at the bits supplied with the spare wheel, there is a large metal screw type thing that is painted bright red. What on earth is that for?!

Thanks again.

the only thing i can think that it is, is the screw for srewing down the plate ontop of the wheel. it screws down through the centre to keep evrything secure. [?]
