bit disapointed with the braking performance of my car , have looked at the pads and they seem like there is still a lot of wear left in them (done 17k).
has anyone used the uprated discs or pads from people like red.dot , etc ,and do they make a lot of differance?

alloys on their merry way!

My break pads are 50% worn at the front after 24,000, but I think the braking could be better, I need to fit some new ones soon, and wonder if there are any better ones too, I wonder if Fiat know?!

I to am a bit dissapointed in the braking performance of my Stilo, and I have the larger discs fitted.
It`s alright poodling around town but on the open road the shortcommimgs soon become apparent and do not inspire much confidence.
I don`t find the brake assist very good either, you still have to welly the peddle.
Try the Citroen C3 if you want to see what good brakes are!!
Perhaps FIAT pads are too hard and things would improve with a softer compound?...if ones available.

I'm still running on my first set of discs/pads and have just passed 53,500 miles... At the last service the garage (non-Fiat - wasn't paying £330 for a service) checked all pads and discs and simply said they have plenty of wear left on them!

Now if only I wasn't on my 3rd clutch, which is screwed after only 15,000 miles (all replaced to try and cure a vibration at 2500rpm)...
