General Lemon Law

General Lemon Law

Make a fuss with fiat, I have been for the last week, as soon as it gets escalted to the customer relations executive, you get a phone call, get the person who is dealing with the case and call them everyday and hassle them.
I was told there was no point by dealers and some friends who know alot about the car trade but i thought, NO the list of faults my car has had for its age is not reasonable and doesnt represent a durable car, fit for the purpose it was bought for and it worked. Maybe i should write a sticky on how to do it :)

Make a complaint, build a case with all of your invoices, if all of your work has been done at a dealership, that helps as they contact the dealership and get the full case history. Based on my case history they agreed that the number of failures on my car was unacceptable and agreed to a reasonable like for like replacement, my dealer cant get a similar model in similar condition so i'll probably end up with an 07 plate punto which i can use as a good trade in for a non fiat car.

Thanks for the advice folks, looks like you did well getting a replacement car out of Fiat.... I think I might try that, I'll also talk to my cousins wife who is a business lawyer....might help with legal advice;)

ChrisF it would be very useful to know how you did it, what was wrong with your car, major stuff or a long list of niggles like mine?

Oh I wasn't able to do the ConnectNav+ update today.......the car is in the Fiat Garage.....for the suspension recall mod....:bang:

We already have a 'lemon law' but it's more accurately called the 'Sales of Goods Act'

Very useful to know your actualk rights, and cars can (and have been) rejected as not fit for purpose. etc

Rich,

Thanks for the steer on the ConnectNav+ I've successfully done the upgrade. Picked the MW up from Coventry Motors having had the suspension mod done....they even washed the car for me....(y) saves me from having to do it;)

Excellent, has the screeching gone?

I didn't even know there was a FIAT garage in Cov, when I lived on campus I'd either go to Nuneaton (Research) or Warwick (Grays).

Screeching appears to have gone, thoguh it did throw a wobbly this morning and had me driving parallel to the A46 about 3/4 mile to the right!!!! It eventually caught up just near the Longbridge Roundabout.

As regards Fiat in Coventry they are about 1/4 mile from the Bagington Roundabout heading back towards city centre, it's also a Mazda & Suzuki dealer. They are opposite the Honda and Volvo dealership...if that helps.

Cool, at least the screeching has gone!

Did you know that on random occasions, the US government put the GPS system out of alignment on purpose, to deter terrorism I assume. This'll throw your GPS out of sync too. Told that by a friend who's going to work for GCHQ.

Thanks for the dealership info :)
