I have a 2002 stilo abarth and I am having endless issues with it. I have taken it to different garages not a fiat one as they are miles away with a problem with the car shaking.

At first i was told it was the tracking so i got that done, then i was told the alloy was bent so replaced it but the issue stayed so i took to another one and they said the alloy was bent. this time i replaced all the alloys to the standard wheels but the issue is still there.

its a constant shake like a faulty tired ie thud thud thud constant. as soon as i hot 40 the car shakes and then if i increase the speed heavliy the shaking is crazy and as if the wheels are lose. if i increase the speed slowly the thud just continues. Please help me as the garages are winding me up:bang:

I also have a knocking when it changes gear?

I have also had a new hub and bearings on the front passengers side and since then I have the asr/abs and esp light on constantly. is this just because they need resetting?

I finally have an issue with the air bag red alert happening all the time. it goes on then off then on. any ideas:worship:

Have you had the wheels balanced?

It's probably because the ABS sensors been disconnected whilst changing the hub and bearings and not been reconnected. I think ASR and ESP both use the ABS sensors. Someone more knowlegeble (sp?) will be along to confirm of correct that I expect :)

Try this: https://www.fiatforum.com/stilo-guides/72482-airbag-failure-warnings.html

If that doesn't work then you'll probably need a new OCS sensor.

Hope that helps (y)

yeah i have had them balanced several times and justchnaged the wheels

reall need to answer this question, thanks steve

I had a vibraion at low speed that shuck the car.. as you speeded up the vibration increased shaking the car more and more.. it also increased dramaticaly under acceleration.

I too had wheels balanced 3 times in total.

Turns out the drivers side drive shaft bearing had collapsed ... one new drive shaft later.. smooth as you like.

For your air bag warnings see the Stilo Guides (Clck on Guides up above)

As you are getting thumping at low speeds then doesn't sound so much like wheel balance. Tracking also won't cause thumping. Tyre damage like a bulge in the tyre wall would feel like that but if you've checked or changed them then you can rule them out

Shaking like crazy?
Sounds like you have an ASR/ESP fault that needs fixing sharpish. The warning's there for a reason
Have you tried test driving it with your ASR turned off? If the car thinks you're wheelspinning then it will momentarily apply the brakes on one or more wheels. As you have ASR/ ESP warnings then you have to get that sorted or isolated. Did they put the right wheel bearing in i.e. one with ABS sensor wheel or was it damaged on fitting?
I can't see how your garage can "fix" things without testing they work properly
Do you test drive it when the garage has "fixed it"?
Does your garage test drive it when they have "fixed it"?
Is it warranty work? If so take it back, make some demands and don't drive it away again until it's fixed
