General Stilo Abarth Disappearing Specifications!

I recently purchase a Fiat Stilo Abarth from a main Fiat dealer and was looking forward to my car with much excitement however on receipt the specification differed greatly than that of the brochures I picked up from the dealer on the day of sale no Connect + Sat Nav with 7" screen, No Cruise Control, No Parking Sensors, No Rain Sensor, No Dusk Sensor etc etc.

I called Fiat Information line and they sent me another brochure and sure enough all those items are listed in the specification so I popped into the dealer again and picked up the same brochure they should all be in there!

I called Fiat Head Office in Slough and they are looking into the matter.

It's seems now that these items are now only standard on the Abarth Selespeed and NOT the ABARTH! however the brochure refers to the Stilo Abarth...

Has anyone else had a similar problem ?

How can I check the date of manufacture for my Fiat Stilo Abarth ?

Ah, this is an excersise that FIAT have been doing since it launched the Stilo, they've been slowing and slyly removing bits of spec to save money, penny-pinching I think it's called, they started with 12v boot sockets and puddle lights and they haven't stopped! [!]

I totally agree with you there, the best thing about it is that I've just traded in a 16 month old Punto HGT for what turns out to be a lower spec Stilo Abarth. My Punto HGT had Sat Nav as standard...

I have purchased 4 new Fiats in the last 5 years, Punto 1.9 JTD, Punto 1.2 Go, Punto HGT and Now a Stilo abarth! (minus the Connect + Sat Nav with 7" screen, No Cruise Control, No Parking Sensors, No Rain Sensor, No Dusk Sensor) I paid for.

I am not happy at all and hopefully Fiat will sort this out.

Well with the updated Abarth FIAT actually listened to customers and the motoring press and released a Abarth Manual version which as a lower spec than the Abarth Selespeed... if you don't know what you are looking in the specs for then yes it can be a bit confusing to what you have ordered... but if your dealer is a registered FIAT dealership then THEY SHOULD KNOW WHAT THE TWO VERSIONS ARE... I know my dealer does... because the manual version is the one I wanted over the selespeed one.

I know which one I purchased It's the Stilo abarth (NOT SELESPEED)it's just that the brochure's in my fiat Dealer were late 2003 spec so listed Connect Nav + with 7" screen, Cruise Control, Parking Sensors, Rain Sensor, Dusk Sensor etc as standard on the Abarth (NOT SELESPEED).

Well if you ordered the None Selespeed Abarth then it doesnt come with the things you want and its not the one in listed in the 03 brochure.. as the range was updated in Feb 04.....

before I actually post any more I would like to know what you asked your dealer for?

I mean in model and spec?

I don't know what brochure your dealer had but the ones I have seen have distinguished between the two Abarth models...

as to what to do ( or what I would do ) is to speak to your dealer and make sure they ordered the one you wanted... check the order form! £14700 is the list price for the Abarth Manual with an option or two ( metallic paint ) its no were near the list for the Abarth Selespeed @ £16000 if your dealer was implying you were getting the selespeed at a discount for £14000+ then you may have a case against them for miss selling but if you asked for the manual version then I guess the sold you the one you wanted but didnt tell you it didnt come with the spec as in the brochure you looked at.... and IMO that is poor salesmanship .... as to what you can do against that, well you can only stongly put your point acroos to first your dealer that he miss slod you the car then possibly to FIAT customer service that your dealer miss sold you the car on having the standard options as listed in the brochure you had.


BUT all of the above rests on what you actually asked your dealer for IF you just went on what the brochure said and didnt ask the dealer exactly what your car is coming with then you have a 50/50 chance at best of resolving your complaint..... the brochures do say specs are subject to change.

Wow, you paid a s**t load for your car, should have gone to Jamjar, they do them for £11,800!

I did look at Jamjar but would have to wait 8 weeks the dealer got it in a week, I'm inpatient and don't like to wait. The dealer gave me £2000 more for my Punto HGT than Jamjar offered so it's swings and round abouts!

If you based your purchase on the brochure then didn't alarm bells start ringing when you got into the car and the gearbox was all wrong?

I only paid £6,700 with my trade in on a 1.2 Stilo 3-door, you paid £7000 more to accelerate to 70mph a few seconds quicker than me, doesn't seem like the spec of cars is much different! B)

That's the Stilo Abarth Selespeed your refering to not the Stilo abarth.
