Hi I have just bought a stilo just driven it home and the radio dont work, it is a 1.6 dynamic if that makes a difference, the other mw,lw,am all work but none of the fm ones work, I just get static any idea what the problem is is the unit broke or is it the aerial that is at fault thanks.Jon

Almost certainly the radio. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere then just sticking a screwdriver into the aerial socket should allow you to find an FM station.

Treat yourself to a new one (plus facia) or look for an original unit on eBay.

erm i think ut may be positioning. I changed my headunit to an alpine and the fm reception is dire. Its never been good around hear but in the stilo its just terrible. Im looking to boost the signal, but im not sure how...any ideas?

I had that when i first got my stilo. It was fine on the test drive, but when i got it home it didnt work. I only got it working when i replaced the head unit.

Thanks thought it was the radio after reading a lot of other threads, think I will go for an aftermarket radio, the standard ones seem a bit rubbish for signal thanks.

ta mate will prob do the same, might as well seen as I will have the unit out, best do the job properly, or I will prob end up doing it again.

I had the same issue as this no radio reception at all just static. I bought elearn the other day and the below is a test you can do to see if the problem is to do with the head unit a loose connection or something.

Now I did these tests and found no problem but when I turned the stero back on it was working. I am sure this is not a coinsidence as the radio recep was not working for a good few months before I did this. the tests seem to have reset it some how so worth a try.

Irrespective of the position of the key, switch on the radio by pressing the 'VOL PUSH ON/OFF' knob for more than a second.

Self Test: check on internal communication between the microprocessor and the internal modules of the Radio

Press buttons '3' and '6 RND' at the same time. Having started the acoustic test at the speakers, press button '1 CD+' to enter the Self Test mode.

'COMMS TEST - PASS' should appear on the display.

If the words 'CAN SYSTEM FAILURE' appear, this means that the radio is not managing to converse with the vehicle CAN.

If the words 'SELF TEST FAILURE' appear, this means that the internal microprocessor is not communicating correctly with one or more of the internal modules (DSP, Tuner, CD/Tape Controller, LCD).

Checksum (internal EEPROM test)

Press buttons '3' and '6 RND' at the same time. Having started the acoustic test at the speakers, press button '4' to enter the mode (internal EEPROM test).

Check that the words 'CHECKSUM - PASS' appear on the display.

If the words 'CHECKSYM - FAIL' appear on the display, the diagnostic procedure is over and has failed.

Check on operation of the display

Press buttons '3' and '6 RND' at the same time. Having started the acoustic test at the speakers, press the '5 RPT' button to enter the 'Test Display' mode.

All the pixels should be on in the display. If some areas are not lit up in the display, the diagnostic procedure is over and has failed.

To exit the diagnostic procedures, switch off the radio by pressing the 'VOL PUSH ON/OFF' button for more than a second and/or turn the ignition key OFF.
