As you'll know, today was D-day for my Stilo's catelog of failings.

1. Middle airvent knob in bits
2. One of the rear interior lights failed
3. Drivers door seal failed (wistling like a banshee)
4. Radiator fan kicks in of its own accord but only when wet
5. Passenger door welded shut (very handy on a 3 door)
6. Indicators don't flash when locking/unlocking doors

So i drop my car off at 8:15 this morning and i return at 5:15pm to pick it up.... Thats 9 hours, nine hours in which to repair some fairly easy faults, 9 hours in which to phone me to tell me it was fixed, 9 hours in which i was not phoned. [:(!]

So i turn up trying to be cheery, bloke behind the counter, whom booked my car in 7 days ago, says "yes, can i help you?" Erm well yes, remember i booked my car in last week, i dropped it off today!!! [:(!]

Oh yeah, right, so he gets the little booklet the keys have been put in, reads back the comments to me. Pardon my French, but your F**KING LOVE THIS. [:(!]

1. Checked air vent, broken, new one required, now ordered!
2. Checked rear light, broken, new one required, now ordered!
3. Checked for air noise, no different to any other Stilo!
4. Checked fan operation, will require to be left overnight to check when cold, no fault found!
5. N/S/F locking working fine!

Ordered required parts car rebooked for 6/4/04

SO AM I F**KING MUTE, INVISIBLE, OR DID I IMAGINE I'D BOOKED MY CAR IN FOR REPAIRS!

All i got was a bunch of parrets repeating what i'd already identified!!! [:(!]

So to recap it all, even though i'd pointed out stuff was broken they didn't believe me, the door which didn't open miraculously opened whilst being repaired, but then welded itself shut as soon as i arrived, the door seal was obviously abnormally good when i first got my car, but is now as s**t as every other Stilo. The fan which only plays up when wet needs to be checked when cold, f**k knows why! Oh and the flashing indicators was conveniently brushed under the carpet!

F**king bunch of hapless f*nnies!

Fiat, you'll never go back! Never got back to a Fiat that is!

The car is re-booked in again tomorrow, another day car less, oh and on the 6th another day carless, thats 3 f**king days to fix something your average grease monkey could repair! Oh yeah and finally, i'll be needing an interior valet after i assume the mechanic had checked under the bonnet of the dirtiest car in the workshop and then fingered my roof lining all around the rear light!

And if i dont get complete satisfaction after the 6th i'll be rejecting the car, i could have bought a 6 year old car with intergallactic milage and had less faults... oh aye i did, i sold it for a more reliable car! [V]

2003 3 Door Stilo 1.2 Active, Sassy Grey, 5 disc CD Changer, Abarth boot badge, plastic wheel trims - and 42.4mpg average so far. Love it, not at the moment, seeing as the car is having a strop!!

A crap dealer all round then. I would insist on a courtesy car.

No he claimed it was fixed, i drove a whole mile away to get my tea, which i hasten to add i still haven't had and probably won't due to the taste of bile in my mouth at the moment! I returned to the garage no more than 5 minutes after i left and he wasn't even surprised! [:(!] One word! C*NT! [:(!]

Oh and shock horror i've identified the exact part that has failed myself and exacted a temporary repair in a whole 10 minutes worth of problem solving! Took Arnold Clark 9 hours and all they could come up with was "it works ok now!"

Well here is whats wrong... Click the lock button once, it locks the car, click it quickly again it deadlocks! So i got into the car, deadlocked myself in, tried opening the door (pull the interior handle) which lets the moving parts inside the door move but not the lock (you can feel the difference through the handle) then unlocked the car and hey f**king presto the door opens! So i open both doors and stand at with my ear at each lock in turn as i unlock repeatedly, i noted that the pasenger door locking mechanism sounded like it was slipping (in comparison to the driver lock)! So here is whats wrong, the deadlock mechanism is obviously fouling the locking mechanism causing the door to deadlock permanently!

So i'll phone them tomorrow morning and TELL them to order a new passenger dead lock, and lock mechanism, and so help me if they don't just order it! I might concede dropping in, but only if their chief technician makes himself available, and only so as i can look like a cocky bastard when I (Thats right me, who works in IT, and has fook all to do with Cars) shows the top technician how to do his F**KING JOB! [:(!]

Maybe i should bill them for an hours of MY time to problem solve the fault, out of hours, so that will be double time... i even come cheap only £30 if i were to calculate my own salary in double time!!!

Live life a little, get a Fiat, pick a Stilo, watch it fail, book it into a arsehole dealership, having no repairs carried out, get an ulcer, suffer depression, get a baseball bat, get f**kin even!!!

If its the bloke I think you mean, then I saw him today when I enquired about the screeching noise on startup. Seemed a bit stonefaced.
Found out the day that the girl that does a good job there is long term sick, so that sucks.
What wind noise is this, you want mines as a comparison of a quiet one? As Ive never heard any excessive noise in the car.
Oh the finger prints, get the digicam out and take some pics of them, they should know better then what they have done :/

Les. I'd have to say the dealer runs hot and cold, they are so bloody slow in getting stuff sorted out and aranged, but what ive seen is when they do get around to the job, they get it done and without issue afterwards.
Took aload of attempts to get the indictors flashing, even had to tell the forman what to do once.
Other bit I think was Fiat uk/it fault. needed a part for the driver door locking pin and they kept sending a lhd version rather then rhd version.
Still no resolve on the start up screech though.

Its my local Rover dealer that are in the dogs atm, dodgy cambelt job done on that car, so thats me with no car atm.

(and I dared look and try a bravo at same said fiat dealer this afternoon for rover replacement)

So would I be if I were treated like that. I went into a car audio center on saturday to get my cd player installed. Bear in mind this is a premier car audio center. 40 minutes later some chimp came to ask me how did I get the fascia panel off my Stilo cos he couldn't do it. I went right off on one inside the showroom in front of all the customers with a round of f**ks and I tell you what, they couldn't be more obliging. Did the job FOC and kissed my feet.

Stiloboy, I can sense that under your frustration you really like your Stilo?, don't let a bunch of bell-enders (Arnold Clark) treat you like this. Moan plenty and then some more and you will get the service which you deserve.

Stilo 1.6 Dynamic. Jet blue and standard.

My own personal reason for being so stressed is this is the most i have ever personally forked out for a car in my life, so the fact its not 100% is really cheesing me off!

The fact that i solved the door locking problem only highlights how crap car dealers really are and how so amazing adept i am and anything i turn my hand to! [^]

I tell you if i'd had a baseball bat the gimp at the dealer would have been picking his teath off the forecourt! [:(!]

Probably kinda lucky then that i didn't have a baseball bat on me! :p
