right guys, this is my first post an i need some help, iv got an 03 plate 1.6 stilo active(AC), had it 9 months now and it seems to have a few of the problems talked about on here, its wearing the outside of my rear passenger side tyre, i get a sort of intermitent rubbing noise from the same side when im travelling at low speeds and i get a funny rattling noise when i rev the car when i first start it, can anyone tell me if there are quick and easy solutions to these problems?and can i get the rear tyre wear sorted for free at my local dealer considering it seems to be happening a lot on other stilo's? oh and i havent recieved a letter from fiat telling me about this suspesion fix when was the announcment made about this problem? i'd be grateful to recieve any replies. cheers :bang: :bang: :bang:

The tyre wear issue has been covered pretty exhaustively on this Forum. Basically, if your alignment is way outside tolerance (AFTER it's been adjusted) and you still have warranty then talk to your dealer about it.

Almost all cars have tyre wear issues which relate to how the car's driven. For example I put a very heavy strain on my rears as a direct result of my cornering style. You sometimes have to pay to have fun

Get your alignment checked and remember to swap back/front before the tyres are worn out as the fronts wear the opposite way :)

cheers, ill get that done, i dont have any warranty with the car anymore as it has finished its manufacturers warranty and where i bought it only gave me a months warrenty, (arnold clark in dumfries they're unacceptably bad btw) i was just wondering if it did turn out to be the axle can i still get fiat to fix it for free? and does anyone know if the tappits on a stilo are expensive to fix? as iv been told they could be away?

i know, they're renault dealers, i bought the cr second hand, i was just wondering if i could take my car to my local dealer (county motors in carlisle) and still get this rear axle problem sorted for free even though i havent got a warranty?

Out of warranty; recalls are free but I don't know of anything else that is.

What evidence have you got for the "rear axle problem" ?

well its only the rear passenger side thats doing it, iv read the evidence from previous threads about the wheel sitting slightly in towards the drivers seat, iv had a mechanic look at this and he agrees with me i was just wondering even though its not got a warranty could i not get it replaced FOC as it should have been done while in warrenty? iv recenty put 17" alloys on it and its more noticable on the outside of the tyre. ps, is it worth getting this suspention modifacation done? sorry to waffle on.
