Hi guys not posted in a while due to house move, anyhows.
My pride andjoy, has devloped intermittent power loss at about 2500 RPM under load, had it "examined" by a mobile mechanic who has examiner, looks likes its the overboost valve.
However i have noticed in my rear veiw mirror that i;m causing quite a bit of smoke when i accelerate. Which is a little embarrasing to say the least.
I've moved the overboost valve to near the battery tray, however despite the engine warning light going on and off when ever it feels like, the car is styill hesistant when under load.

So a few questions?
1) Where can i get a new Overboost valve without getting ripped off?
2)Will a faulty overboost valve cause more smoke from the exhaust under acceleration? If not what could it be, the cars well maintained and has never been abused?
3)How much will a new one cost?
4) The car has been angel tuned, could this be the root of the smoke problem?
5) How do i check my car has been fully updated (ECU)? Will my dealer just tell me over the phone if i've missed an update?
Thanks for your help

Rob

So a few questions to all my FF pals.

Be warned that any ECU update will overwrite the remap.

When I sorted my overboost problem (89p jubilee clip :D ) I was quite pleased that when Examiner was later connected (actually to clear the 'preheat error' left over from changing a glow plug and also to try to get the alarm working) the technician reported "you've got a fault with the overboost valve reported".

My point is if you're uncertain then Examiner might have the answer :)

Although don't take it literally as Examiner doesn't know the differnce between a broken valve and broken peice of tubing :D

I checked the tubing and all seems ok, the warning light goes on and off as it pleases, i have had it hgooked upto examiner which states a problem with the Overboost valve.
I summising that it needs a new one, just dont want to get ripped off for a new one,
Any alternative to using a Fiat Stealer to get one? Or anyone know of where to get one i.e A dealer they have bought one from without paying anything close top the £120 i've been quoted

Thanks

Rob

Exactly, If anyone knows where i can get it at a "normal humane" price, please please please let me know so i can get it and sort it.
Many thanks
