So, I finally got my exhaust sorted. Had a new front box a few weeks ago but it still made an awful racket, leading me to think the baffles were shot. Replaced front box again and all is well. The Stilo is once again as smooth as silk(y)

Here's the thing though - the kid at the garage reckoned it wasn't the baffles but he said maybe the cat had collapsed and fallen into the front box, thus causing the noise.
I would've thought that with all the technology in the Stilo it would start beeping, screaming, swearing and flashing at me if the cat was knackered.

Anyone any ideas???

I'm sure I read a post from Athos saying that this had happen to him when cat had broken down have a search for posts from Athos (y)

He probably wanted to sell you a new cat. A mate of mine was told by Kwik Fit that has catalyst had shattered and needed replacing. So I took the section off and it could clearly could be seen in one piece and in place.

Lying, robbing gits.

I would be wary of anyone telling you that it needs a cat,the only sure way of telling your cat is buggered/inefficient is to monitor the switching of the lambda sensor on suitable diagnostic equipment...due to the expense of cats I would be even more wary if they had one in stock!
Pattern cats are available for £60-110 & are ok...I have fitted 3 of them to my own cars no problem,3 cats on 3 Fords...I never learn:(
