Hw exactly would i go about cleaning the seat rails? When the seat is pushed back fully, the grease on the rails has visible attracted crumbs, sand, muck, bits of leaves etc, does anyone here clean this out and if so how!???

Also, the rubber strip that runs along under the front bumper has had 3 of its "staples" pulled away from the bumper after an unfortunate incident involving a pheasant at 45mph. Its not hanging down or anything, but obviously im concerned and would like to reattach these 3 staples if possible! Any suggestions welcome.

cheers.

this is a bit of a pet hate with me actually, i've never been able to completely clean the rails but, i have attempted it with a small paintbrush. That does get rid of some of it, but never all of it.

I have never cleaned them out or even thought about cleaning them. To be honest, i've never looked, can't be bothered. Simple tip - don't move the seat then you'll never know. Ha

One of those £12 steam cleaners with the nozzle might be good, gets rid of grease and blows away the dross. Might have to lub again afterwards but i often wonder why they put so much grease on the tracks

Yeah, on the topic of seat rails...

The Stilo surprises me in that the seats seem really close to the floor and yet there are gaps all around so that objects invariably end up under the seat... my wallet for instance has flown off the (leather) passenger's seat on numerous occasions and ends up wedged somewhere in the dark under the seat wiring... same for my phone, my keys... slowly I'm learning not to put things on the seat (I put them on the floor instead), but then of course the Stilo's superior acceleration does its best to push the objects back under the seat anyway :)

Compare with an Uno, where there is a handy crossmember 'wall' under the front of the seats... and the rails are vertical, welded to the sides of the footwells... not sure why FIAT forgot this major innovation in strength and safety... and decided to bolt the rails to the floor instead... though putting a drawer under the seat does give some of the space back, I would think that rear passenger's footroom would be limited compared with the Uno.

Anyway to answer the question, I suggest paper towels and an aerosol can of Brake Cleaner, an excellent solvent. Re-grease with lithium grease or maybe even something like Vaseline to avoid future dirtying/staining.

you can very carefully reattach the rubber strip under the bumper with some smallish self tapping screws. the bumper catches on kerbs if you park too close and mine was hanging down when i bought it at auction.
