Servicing Costs

Hello everyone, a newbie here!!

What is the average price for a 24,000 mile service? It's due soon.

I was charged 230 for the 12,000 mile service, which I thought was damn expensive. The usual excuse is 'But it's a diesel'.

The average cost on my brothers 2000 model MR2 is 120, which seems more realistic.

Diesels do cost more to service, even more so now that they cover more miles between servicing!

Cant help with the 24000 but I've just had a 12000 done on mine, 104. Didn't think that was too bad.

Although, I'm gonna need new tyres and brakes in a couple of months though.

New brakes at around 12,000 miles, you must drive your car really hard!

I understand about the tyres though. The Stilo eats front tyres. Mine lasted 22,000 miles. The standard fitment on mine was Dunlop, which has a soft compound. I paid a bit extra and got Michelin, which are slightly harder, so will last longer. Neither is there a difference in the handling.

it should have different handling cause softer tyres are like glue to the road ... the seem to stick on the road and take care of the car direction. anyway it dependes on the tyre model ... sport one comfort one ... etc.

Desira in Bury St Edmunds offered me a free 12k service when I bought the car at the end of November! It was a dealer demo with 4.8k on the clock so they said it was pointless servicing it which was fair enough. The only downside is that I'll have to drive 210 miles round trip to get it serviced.

You might get a fright, in my experience Michelin's are some of the softest tyres in the business!

My Saxo VTS had them, 7000miles for the fronts, and that wasn't driving it like a t1t!

Past experiance with Michelins has showed they've lasted longer. I had an early mk4 Golf GTI (1.8 engine) before the Stilo and I got 40,000 miles out of them, where as the standard fitment Dunlops lasted 20,000 miles.

it wouldn't be to bad if it was 12000, but it's only just past 10000. Turns out though that suprise suprise the sales guy had lied and I was 6 months late on the service, it was a 6 month old demo car when I bought it, had sat in the showroom and done 17 miles when I bought it. So should have been serviced in September, not last week. Should be ok for warrenty though, your allowed to step out of line on servicing once (correct me if I'm wrong).
