hey guys, like all of you i've been struggling to get my flashing indicators activated on my car[:(!]. When i took delivery of the car about 2 months ago i told the service manager about it, but the technicians looked at my car like i had brought them a dishwasher to fix, cause my car was 1 of about 20 in the country.[:0] Anyway Cut a long story short the sales person investigated it for me and said i needed to fit an alarm etc etc, and i kind of reached the conclusion that my car was fitted with a less advanced central locking system as according to the sales person my car doesn't have dead locks either. I just discovered today that my car does have dead locks and trying to activate them is another reason why i want flashing indicators! Now I'm $%#^#%^ off but still unsure about my central locking cause my fuel filler cap needs a key to unlock and the cover isn't part of the central locking as it is indicated in the manual it should be.

Ok now the point to this rant: is your guys fuel filler covers connected to the central locking as it is indicated in the handbook it should be, or do u also have to unlock the cap to refuel?

Thanks for bearing with and helping out another irate stilo owner![xx(]

My fuel filler cover is connected to the central locking. I bet that you should be able to activate the flashing indicators if you could find a competent dealer... Your dealer is probably another ignorant one among the many...[xx(]

? My fuel filler flap is not connected to any type of locking, it's manually opened. No wires or connectors or anything in there. The only thing is the keyhole on the filler cap.

My fuel filler is connected to the central locking...but mine is petrol, perhaps it`s different on the Diesel cars.
As for the flashing indicators any competent dealer should be able to sort that one out while you wait, I know mine did.

Mine is linked to the central locking... I wonder if in ultimate wisdom some countries have a locking fuel filler cap rather than the door, more a security thing as it would be way too easy to snap off the locking fuel door rather than a locking cap?

This question would I guess be a good one for Fiat to answer for you.

The one's in SA are locked on the actual CAP they are made like that for more security!!(i know cause i am from SA and my bro has a Stilo there[8D]) i know it says it in the manual but just about all manuals are sandard in europe and africa! my bro got the flashing idicators though (i think ) i will findout were he bought his maby u could try that dealer:D

Does sound like a Country pacific thing with central locking in one place and lockable in another

With regard to the flashing indicators, just tell the dealer to plug the car into the diag computer, visit the security screen on that, then let them input the key code number ( take both keys just in case they are as daft as my dealer was) and an option will appear to enable them. Mines only has the Central locking with immobiliser, no alarm and it was sorted. Be it a long wait as they tried to say the chassis version wouldn't support the feature. In the end just persuade them to hook it up and they will learn.

Hi

I always wondered whether or not my indicators should flash when I locked up. I just accepted that it wasn't part of the design of the car.

Am I right in saying then, that if I go to my dealer they can just alter a few small things and they'll flash?
Did it cost you much to get that sorted Scorg?

Terribly easy to break the fuel filler flap off, try it with the filler cap. ;)

I didnt cost anything to get done. Its one of the things that are good about Arnold Clark ive found so far.
They obtained the keycard, didnt even mention about the cost, its all being treated under warrenty. Anything needs done they dont question at the service desk (although the workshop forman was the dafty)

well i finally have flashing indicators. I went to the dealership with all 8 printed pages of the flashing indicators thread and thanks to panjo's discription of wat needed to be done they could work it out.

I was kinda worried when the service guy says i must bring my spare key in to be coded cause there is only one remote listed on the menu. so im like "uh yeah dude the spare key doesn't have a remote". But they were really helpful if kinda clueless

stilo alian, i think your brother and i must be like the only owners cause i haven't seen another one on the road since i've have my car!:)[:0]

I would be well peeved if some gimp ripped my fuel flap off, but.... i'd rather that that someone cut the fuel pipe itself! [V]

Mine has both the flap connect to the CL, and a locking cap, which is a little tricky;)
For goodness sake. I must check and make sure there's nothing else missing. I'm almost positive I seen a turbo under the bonnet. [:0]
