i have just replaced my trusty bravo with a new stilo sporting jtd, 3 door. i cnt get the deadlocks to work and the headlights are rubbish on dipped beam. anyone suggest any upgrades. other then that the handling just does'nt seem as good in country lanes but its far superior on good roads

Upgrade your bulbs to 50% brighter on dipped and full beams H7 and H1 if your quick you may be lucky to get them in Lidls at £3.99p a pack (y)

Ive just bought a new JTD Sporting, and my deadlocks dont work either. Makes me wonder if they have been taken off the 'spec'?

I thought that too but have a look at where the light is actually going. On setting '0' (max range) mine light up both the nearside and offside amazingly far ahead and yet without getting flashed by oncoming drivers.

Personally I don't like my main beam but I'm pretty sure that's because it's pointing a tad too high.

As PNL suggests, updating the standard bulbs to +50% is a good idea. Changed all four on mine (y)

I went to an auto shop for a dipped beam bulb today and the dude tried to give me an H3, then I told him it didn't look right, he was very confused and pointing at a book saying that was the right one. I told him I'd rather go check first. Was I being a knob? Is it H1 for the dipped beam?

EDIT: I'ts H7 -why didn't I just check the handbook? I'm getting lazy!

Question: Can I upgrade the main beam bulbs on a car with gas discharge dipped ones?

I would think so. As only your dipped beam is xenon, your main beam should be standard H1 halogen bulps. Your manual should tell you how to change them.

Low beam is H7 and high beam is H1. Front fogs are also H1.
