Tuning Induction Kit

Hmmmm, aint got no undertray or precharger! This may be part of the problem!
I'll get the air filter cleaned out tomorrow and from there get and fit the precharger, then figure out where to get an undertray from.
If anyone knows where they grow/ are sold/ has one for sale I'd be happy to hear, but first I've got to get this filter dealt with, and my wheels sorted tomorrow.
Here's hoping it's miss and squeak free by tomorrow evening!

You need to fit your filter with the precharger: the blue cover here:

That looks like the 57I kit and not the Typhoon kit which I think killyurmama has this one goes deeper down into the engine bay and will be more susceptible to water I wouldnt have an induction Kit this low without an under tray You can ask Old school his opinion if you wish but going through big deep puddles of water without the under tray IMO is suicide for you engine

I think you might be right PNL- it is pretty low down in the set-up. My old man took one look at it and said that he thought water might get into it. I'll get the cover tomorrow anyway and put that on as a stop-gap and look into getting the undertray, I do live in Scotland where puddles of water are a feature!

This is the complete kit and is the Typhoon type:

Noticed that on the instructions it "strongly advises" that you et an undertray if you don't already have one. Best get on the blower today, just about to remove and clean the filter.

Filter is out and cleaned- drying it out just now.
Local Fiat dealer has qouted £65 for the central part of the undertray, £108.19 (discounted to £97.37 for getting it all at once) for the lot. Anyone know of any cheaper alernatives?
This car is swiftly draining my bank account, I can't find any source of undertrays on the net- any help sourcing cheaper parts would be appreciated!

:(

Have a look on line at some breakers yards their a good source of reusable parts and cheaper that new and you dont really need a new one do you just one that will fill that great big gaping hole under there :) have a Google you are bound to find someone who has one (y)

I've now been through every breaker in the district: almost no-one has Stilos, and no-one keeps the damn undertray!!
I already tried breakeryard.com and a couple of other web searches but so far no joy. I might start looking at setting up a Fiat Breaker Yard of my own since no-one else seems to do it!

That's a good way to look at it- put a smile on my face, if not my bank manager- it'll have cost me about £600 in the 2 weeks I've had it when I order this undertray tomorrow (that's a fair bit more than I've earned in that time!)

Well, had to postpone ordering the undertray due to lack of funds! It's a good thing I did as I can just whip out the K&N kit and pop in a Fiat air filter for £20 or less, and not bother ordering the £97 undertray. (y)

In an unrelated event- My spigot ring arrived today at Halfords; 2 weeks after ordering it- I'd got one elsewhere in the meantime, but think I'll go down to pick it up anyway, for old time's sake. If anyone wants to phone and congratulate them you can call 01698 283323.

so your taking out your K&N and putting back the original filter box :bang: a move in the wrong direction IMO but your decision never the less :)

I know it'll be a bit slower off the mark etc, but

a) It's not on my insurance as I didn't realise it was there when I got it insured (oops)
b) It'll save fuel
c) It'll save me buying the undertray, and I'm skinto!

I'll keep the bits and maybe put it back in when I've recovered from the financial hammer-blow that has been buying this lovely wee car.
:p

Have you got all the bits of the original filter box and induction tube if you havnt I still have mine in the garage mine is a 1.6 but if any of the bits are of any use to you then give us a shout (y)

I've just nipped back on here after scouting about some scrappies for a filter box, and seeing your post may have saved my evening! :)
I got a new filter no bother, but not actual box and fittings. If you've got them that'd be fantastic, because I've already experienced the difficulty of finding parts round these parts. How much do you want for them?

I will still keep an eye out for the undertray at scrappies, a lot of the time it's just your luck with what they have in/left!

Hows the 1.4 kits coming on???

Sorry, but it has fallen a bit behind schedule. I had a hell of a lot of trouble with the Stilo 2.4 tooling (it does look odd - sorry Nick:D ).

But the Punto Mk2 1368 one might be very similar, which I am going to test next week.

No I was quite suprised to be honest at the cost [dont want to freak him out]:D it was under £10 and quite a biggish box ;) puff pant puff Phwewwww :p

Don't worry about frightening me with postal costs, Fiat wanted 60-odd squids for it  - so £10 or so for postage is brilliant! You've yet to get back to me with ways to recompensate you, I really appreciate you going to the effort of doing this. :worship:
I know what you mean about postage, it isn't great, costs too much and takes too long! But I'm happy to wait a few days just now, I've almost got everything in fine working order, when I get a dry day I'll get everything polished up and stick a couple of pics on.

Hey Phil,
It arrived today :D but at the same time something went awry with my brake (again) :bang: so I've got it off the road until Wed when it's going to the garage to figure out where we are going wrong- think it might be related to the drive shaft, but that's prob for another thread.

Anyway, the box should be in by Wed afternoon, all going well, and I'll hopefully have an idea of p&p by the end of the week to PM you with. Hope the £ arrived, if not today then tomorrow or Wed at latest!
PS: Hope the decorating went well, I'm almost all done here!

Glad to see you have received the filter system OK hope the home made box held up with all the throwing around etc and I received you scottish currency the day after you posted it  it came quicker than your parcel :D lets hope the fitting of the filter goes smoothly for you its really fiddly to get at the bolt under the battery tray the one that holds it in place :)

Think I'll give it a try today, if the rain eases off. If it's a pain, or if the rain doesn't stop, I'll just ask the mechanic to stick it on tomorrow- cos I'm a lazy bugger! :p
Glad everything arrived, hope the local fuzz didn't nick you for having Scottish currency!
At present I have to do any work on the street (hill) where I live, so it's murder to get anything done properly/safely, I'll need to find somewhere convenient to fiddle about (at the risk of sounding like wicked uncle Ernie)
