Hi all, got a 2004 stilo with 32k on the clock,
Have recently had problems getting into third gear. At first i thought it was me but it would not engage third for S@@t last night.
Tried 2nd, 4th and 5th all fine. Got 3rd in the end and all seems to be ok now, but it seems a problem which goes then comes back. Its almost if the gear isnt there as there is lots of resistance when trying to put it in. Lifted off and back on the clutch which didnt solve the problem. Was wondering if you have any ideas?
P.S its a manual

Lots of threads on here about that issue and involved a replacement gearbox so hope you've got warranty

Otherwise I'd check gearbox oil level and if it's OK then change it, as a matter of course, anyway.

As you can get all the other gears and 3rd is only now and gain I think you could possibly have a selecter on the way out dont think it would be cable adjustment as you can get all the other gears :chin:

i also have a 2004 stilo 1.2 active 16v with 27k on the clock and my gearbox decided to take a sh!t-fit pulling out of a junction, result: broken gearbox mounts and cracked diff casing, it has been with fiat for the last 5 weeks. they are saying it was caused by accident damage and i got an independant assessor out to look at it and he is saying its a mechanical fault. so they have to replace it the 'box under warrenty.

if i wer u i would take it back to fiat and explain the problem if your car is still got warrenty remaining.
