well after owning my jtd for three months i have decided to get it tuned just a quick question who is the best to use angel tuning or celtic i think there about the same price has anyone used celtic tuning i have read a few posts about angel tuning just wondering how celtic compare

If its a remap you want you can also contact Oldschool as he can sort it for you you may find the prices cheaper to ;)

I went with Celtic tuning after contacting a fair few who just treated me like a woman that doesnt understand cars. I think they were ace and the gains I got are amazing. I spoke to a guy called graham and he was very helpful. I live in Cornwall so it was easy for me to go to them but he said they travel all over the country to do peoples cars so I can imagine that would be easy for you if you use them.
I cant rave about the performance of my car enough, they got 180bhp from a 115! No smoke and the economy has been untouched in fact it still does about 48 to the gallon whilst doing a ton!
Hope that helps x:)

i doubt the standard clutch will last that long with that amount of bhp, it isn't designed to take that much. Is 180bhp rolling road tested, or is that there claim?

I suppose it depends how you drive it. If you are not flooring it from a standing start, you are unlikely to hurt the clutch at all.

But isn't the problem more when you floor your right foot in top. (say you're doing 2000rpm as well to make it worse) :chin:

Seems so odd to think you're actually safer if you drop down through the box first.

How silly of me. You are spot on Argo!

The torque would be an issue. Celtic informed me that they advise 165bhp as a maximum. Any more and I guess you are getting into the damage area. I'm going to get mine done by them, but will not exceed the 165hp recommendation.

but unless you get the map added with rolling road to verify, how do you know that you'll get your requested 165bhp and not 145 or worse 180bhp.

We all know that every car/engine is different, when adding bolt on mods like air intakes and standard remaps, without a "live" map you can't be sure of the power/torque output.

True. I think the figures they give are an average. Some may get 170hp some 160hp.

I was under the impression you can select it within the map itself. Obviously, you can't create torque from thin air but I had the impression the system is clever enough to reduce the max torque with just a single parameter.

In other words, you don't know the max torque the engine can produce but you DO KNOW the max torque it will be allowed to produce :chin:

Could be wrong.

Argo,
Probably very true and would be a good safety feature but as every engine has different amounts of wear, i would think that the max figure in the map (if that is how it works) is unlikely to be met unless in a newish engine??

To say that after a map your engine will have a specific bhp is unfair without testing unless the statement is "the map with give you UPTO ?? bhp" and peeps don't read the upto

I have a Celtic map (the 178 version).

It's very much worth while. The car does drive better as well as having more power.

Had no issues with clutch slip in the last six odd months.

Peak torque with this map is not generated until 2,500rpm though I'm sure that they could change this at your request.

I've not dyno tested mine as I don't really care what a rolling road says (dynos have issues too so shouldn't be relied upon completely). What I can say is how well the car drives and the pace it has.

If anyone fancies a go and you live my way drop me a line...

was an owner of a 130 sporting m jet and had an Angel tuning remap back in 2008
and the car was superb for 3 years ...55 mpg regular and torque was impressive
they are top guys and very professional .. previous had a fabia VRS and was faultless
and very powerful...
