Just been for fuel, decided i'd see how economically i could drive, never actually let the speed drop below 50mph (all milage covered on a 60mph road) and never held up any other traffic and i managed a credible 50.9mpg over 15 miles.

So how about a competition, for 1 full tank, reset trip computer, cover 400 miles, record exact miles covered (try to cover as close to 400 miles as possible), average speed (average must be over 40mph, so no total dawdling), fuel computer calculated economy, range to empty. Post your results here!

The winner.... the person who gets the highest % mpg over Fiat claimed combined consumption.

I will personally give the winner a prize! Yet to be decided, could range from a Mars bar to something Stilo based.

So how do you work out your % over Fiat combined.... take your actual economy divide by 100 and then multiply by Fiat combined. (yeah i know obvious, but to make life easy for everyone). We'll use my 15 mile trip as an example (remember the competition is over 400 miles). :I

So my economy 50.9 / 100 * 44.8 (1.2 combined cycle) = 22.8% over Fiat combined.

Let the competition begin.... :p

I can't enter. I don't think my average speed ever goes above about 20mph. :IShort city centre journeys.
But see my latest post in the economy thread. :D

You really wanna challenge me to this?

I drove to uni the other day, 22miles, averaging about 50mph and got just over 70mpg[xx(]

A challenge for something like this would really need to be against like for like, 1.2 vs 1.2 and JTD vs JTD etc.

Not really fair otherwise:D

Well not really, seeing as i was managing 20-odd % over combined where as you'll only be getting a little over Fiat combined! :I

TC i got something to tell you about our non-economy cars.I went to a 350km jurney yesterday and the car amazed me ... the avarage consumption was 7.5litres on 100km. I was driving 4 people (5including me), a couple of times i went like nuts catching others with 180kmh and very often 160/140kmh.I was driving on wintery tyres and nothing extra that can affect consumption. This will surely amaze you cause it went like a thunder for me.Seemes like the enginge should get more km's to lower the consumption.Mine is around 25500km on the clock, yours?

Sorry, the litres to kms thing means nothing to me, we use miles and gallons!

My car has 6500 miles on the clock!

TC i'm telling you something .. its not the miles or the kms .. im telling you that it seemes to me that after the car has more kms on the clock it starts to consump less ... IMO.

I've just crossed the 2000miles barrier already! Only had the car about 5-6 weeks! :p

Dunno if my fuel economy has increased any, but i have used the extra performance recently! :I
