There's no way to get examiner working using a normal OBS2 connector as it needs some extra connections but you can get some pretty good software to run diagnostics from your car down an OBD2 cable to your laptop
Software is improving all the time so the stuff i use is proabably already not the best there is. I use a few different programs and i'd advise to do the same.
OBD2 leads available on Ebay, check out what kind of ports you have on your laptop though (i.e. serial, usb etc) and get the right one for yours
Re connectors and interfaces- you want a usb (or serial) to an interface and then from the interface to your car OBD2 terminal which is just to the left of your body computer
Interfaces and cables are available on Ebay of if you keep your eye out. Mostly from Germany
Not up to this kind of thing I can only just use a PC but do you guys remember I told you about the back issue of car mechanics which dealt with the stilo electronics well to quote from the mag[Hang on just getting my reading specks ]Quote-Not all hardware and software manufacturers include the stilo in their listings although Autodiagnos,Omitec, and Sykes-Pickavant do cover the application there is also a dealer tool available at £3500 from Advanced Diagnostics which cover all fiat and alfa cars
Bargain. Just £3500?
We'll have a couple of those then. I'll just get my cheque book
Software is getting better and able to do more each time so it's worth looking around to see the latest versions.
With buying interface and connectors from Ebay, many sellers now list the Stilo as compatible and offer money back if they aren't
Germany is way ahead with diagnostics and dabbling with can networks so that's where i'd look
