I wonder if any one can help. Does anyone know how easy it is to replace a rear parking senor, Fiat have quoted me £120 + vat, or has anyone got any ideas why when you put the car into reverse the sensors seem to think there is something behind the car a play me a mad tune, when there isn't anything behind it.

Thanks in advance

I have never done one but I'm pretty sure they just push into the bumper and all wires would be a case of simply unplugging and pushing back together no rocket sience involved in this I would think (y)

Mine does this occasionally, prob is you cant tell which sensor is faulty. It is probably a loose wire but it also seems to do it when the car has just been washed, so make sure they are clean and there is no soap film on them. (Although I know others can pressure wash their sensors with no ill effects).

There is a guide to removing the bumper here:

http://www.stilosport.com/pages/Guides/How%20To/Rear%20Bumper.htm

which will show you how to get the sensors out. I'd be tempted for 120 to be honest, I thought they were a lot more expensive than that.

Hmm, surely a faulty sensor would register on the CAN node so show a fault? Has the system been checked by FIAT or are you guessing at a dodgy sensor?

Fiat checked and said there was no faults. However last night I felt compelled to clean said sensors again. Sorted fixed. This problem started after the car went in for it's 36k service(done by fiat), it came out of the service got home put in reverse and thats when it all begun. my question is, I took it back to fiat with this problem, why didn't they pick up that they just needed cleaning. Seems dodgey to me. Again thanks everyone for your help.(y)

My parking sensors also have a mind of their own... one is a bit mashed, but it was like it when I got the car and heavy rain certainly dont help (n) Suppose replacing the mullered sensor would be the answer but not sure if the come individually or as a set of 4

Previous Stilo daint have them so can rely on my own judgement, though new Stilo does have a towbar to take into account... :)

Back to square one after cleaning them. Done the trick for a short while but went mad again shortly after. The cost per sensor from fiat is £43 + vat. Am waiting for a price for these from some where else. Does any body know where the ecu for the parking sensors is located??

ECU is underneath drivers side light cluster.

So 50 quid for the mullered sensor and I assume as there is an ECU involved a session on the examiner for the ECU to make the new Sensors aquintence @ 38 quid for half hour? Crash course in parking with driving instructor would be cheaper... :p

Hi,ive had problems with my parking sensors for ages. Was told probably a dodgy one but no way of telling which!Usually the fault goes away on a dry day as long as the car is clean, and very dry.Soon as it rains or gets washed, usual dash warning then they got nuts, bleeping like a 80's arcade game.
Never actually got round to replacing, but was looking at other cars with parking sensors and they all seem very similar.
I dont think fiat would go to the trouble of making parking sensors and probably use an outside source for the sensors.Does anyone know if they are all made by one factory and supplied to diffrent cars?
I remeber years ago when i had a Pug GTI it was cheaper to get the Citeron parts which were exacly the same, but a hell of alot cheaper.
Does anyone know if the parking sensors are manufactured by someone else, mabe another car uses them, and mabe there cheaper!
Any thoughts?
Anthem.
