Re: Engine fault/sensor fault JTD

Argo, here's the update.........
I got my dad to relocate my overboost valve and clean it up....No change.
Replaced the MAF.......No change
Replaced the overboost- valve.......No change
ECU reset.............no change
The pipes are all fine apparently and my dad has done everything that has been suggested to me, so any idea's where I can ask dad to check again?

Cheers,

Wilma

Sorry Wilma, I can't think of any other suggestions

It looks like you're going to need to take it to a Fiat specialist with access to Examiner to get some idea of where the problem is (there are some good dealers out there honestly - many small independents)

Good luck

They didn't move mine and i still get this fault when it's wet. They said it was a maf sensor fault and changed it but still the problem occurs. Based on this dealer/tech diagnosis I would not let him attempt to relocate my valve. I'd be surprised if he knew where to look.

Re: Engine fault/sensor fault JTD

A word of caution about cheap MAF sensors. Yes you can get them for as little as £55 off the net and ebay, but you must make sure they are the original part. My brother in law has the 20v Bravo HGT and he got a cheap MAF meter off the net. Damn thing was a Chi-com built patern part that didn't work well at all. Replaced this with an original Bosch unit and problem solved.

You can go very wrong replacing sensors and such like with cheap bits, and you run the risk of replacing duff for duff and ending up spending alot more money in the long run as a part, once replaced, is assumed to function correctly and so you replace the next likely part etc, etc, et.

Re: Engine fault/sensor fault JTD

Fortunately/unfortunately it was a Fiat dealer so at least they probably got the genuine part even if it wasn't needed.

From what I understand, Fiat asked dealers to move this valve during routine servicing (I think the dealer can claim the labour charge back from Fiat so they don't lose out) on all early JTDs.

If your motor is still in warranty then I'd have a word with the service manager but if not you might as well DIY or pay a competent Fiat specialist garage to do it.

Mine was moved by the dealer and looks nice and clean up by the battery

Re: Engine fault/sensor fault JTD

Yes; this is the old under headlamp position (notice the blue connector plug and rubber tubing connected).

The new position is on the side of the battery housing.

No. Take the air filter box out. It drops out from below. You can the see and access everything you need to move the overboost valve with the air box out of the way.
