This morning I went to start the car it failed - flat battery, I bumped it down the hill (ok I no I shouldnt have) came back to it in around 6 hrs same thing flat as a plan cake.

The battery has been ok - ie no signs of failing (yellow lights etc..)

What can it be? should I replace the battery? or go to the dealer to get them to put it on the computer?

Many Thanks

Well if you have a multi-meter then you can check the battery yourself. Alternatively you can visit Hellfrauds they'll give you a battery check.

Or finally call AA or RAC if your a member. I'd only consider dealer as a last option.

2003 3 Door Stilo 1.2 Active, Sassy Grey, 5 disc CD Changer, plastic wheel trims - and 41.7mpg average so far. Love it, Oh yes!

In case that battery isn't dying I'd suspect the alternator. That's easy to check. Just measure the battery voltage while reving >2krpm - should be around 14V or a little bit more. If that's OK try disconnecting some accessory fuses for further analysis - check the UG on which ones are safe to unplug. And you are not using the battery at all while not running the engine?

Thanks all for the replies - no the car was just locked and nothing was being used.

Took the car to the dealer - fault was something shorting out - anyway car back on the road and not power draining anymore:D

Thanks again for all the help
