Hi all,

The manual says the coolant capacity for a 2.4 is 8.3 kilos not litres! If it is litres this sounds like a hell of a lot to me. Can anyone confirm that's right?

From the handbook:
Engine Cooling System with Climate control, mixing paraflu and distilled water at 50%

Engine - Kilo
1.2 =5.25
1.6 =6.55
1.8 =7.3
2.4 =8.3
1.9 JTD 80 =5.25
1.9 JTD 115 =7.3

Dealership just sold me 3 litres of paraflu UP so if it is right I'm one short :bang:

darn! back to the dealers for more paraflu. Makes you wonder what sort of mix they put in if they think 3 litres is ok!

there are many different types of antifreeze depending on engine's, I've alway's gone with the manufacturer's reccomended...

Just out of preference... like I use andrex instead of school tracing paper style bog roll... why skimp on your engine? I dont skimp on my bum:p :D

Valid point! Decade of Skoda ownership taught me that when you have an alloy block & iron head buy recommeded antifreeze! VAG/Skoda G10 (?) was £10 for 2 x 1.5 L and enough there for coolant change (50% concentration) enough for 1 x 1.5 L mixed (50%) to top up, good for 5 years and no blown head gasket worries... but of course you could go to your local motor factors and buy a an other 'universal' antifreeze save £3 - £4 and permanently wreck your engine instead... not much of a choice there really!

How much did it cost you from dealers and why are you using that compared to antifreeze from halfords

Just curious

Kev

It was about a fiver a litre from a dealership. If I bought a cheaper one and the car overheated I'd be blaming the cheap stuff. I know thats not likely because there probably exactly the same but when the recommended stuff is a few quid more than the rest I think it's worth it. Especially when its only getting done every few years.
