Technical Can it just be the exhaust? Help appreciated...

Hoping for some help with the missus' stilo ('02 1.6) from some knowledgeable folk. Basically the "engine problem-hand your wallet to Fiat" light came on, on her journey home. Only a day ago I noticed her exhaust blowing (Fiat not missus). Was wondering if this is the 'engine problem' - had what sounds to be standard zorst problem symptons of hesitating & missing a bit.
The blow seemed to come from the frontpipe - perhaps this flexible joint Stilo drivers enjoy so much?!
Need to check its OK to make the 20 mile trip to Fiat. Any help with be very gratefully recieved....may prevent a bit of ear GBH

You'll need to get someone to read off the fault codes stored if there are any. Hesitation and misfires don't sound much like exhaust blowing problems although exhaust blowing can throw the lambda readings out and cause fuelling problems depending on where the blow is and how severe

You'll have to fix the exhaust anyway and then get the fault codes read to get the answers

when my zorst flexi joint went my car went from doing 43-45mpg to 37-39mpg and it kangarood often.

Dont have that problem at all now
