considering selling a broken stilo

after an unfortunate accident in my stilo ive discovered my stilo requires a new front drivers side wishbone and a new front subframe. this will cost 680 to repair. Due to my dads focus sittin in the garage un-used as he works locally and the fact a new job i start soon that comes with a company car im considering trying to sell the stilo raher than pay for these repairs. Taking into account the repairs required could anyone suggest a figure i could try to sell the car for. I would target dealerships as a private sale wud be nigh on impossible i would imagine.

Re: considering selling a broken stilo

They will all no doubt have your eyes out.
I would personally repair then sell off, if you do the work yourself it will cost a lot less.
Contrary to popular belief, subframes are fairly easy to change, just time consuming.

Re: considering selling a broken stilo

yes i need to think long and hard about what to do its just a shame that im hardly going to be using the car once i get my new job and i was planning on selling it due to me gettin a new job which will keep the stilo in the garage almost all week anyway. I realise geting the repairs done is unavoidable but i was hoping for some way out really as it seems such a waste of money.

Re: considering selling a broken stilo

if the repairs cost £680 then i would say knock a grand off the stilo easy.
really you want to pay out for the repairs as i believe it will probably come back in the resale.

Re: considering selling a broken stilo

I agree. I tend to double any repairs needed, and so do a lot of people when looking to buy. So it will take at least a grand off.

Repair it, sell it, buy something for weekend fun!

Cool Re: considering selling a broken stilo

Do you have electric seats, leather interior, cd changer, alloys, skywindow, climate control, multifunction steering wheel, or any other Gucci toys?
Maybe if you added up all the main parts you could sell you might come up with a better figure, if you could be bothered having it hanging around while you sell the bits. There are some real scavengers in here! But again it depends on what you have.

Re: considering selling a broken stilo

Yes, I would say that your logic is the opposite of what you'd experience - a private sale of a broken Stilo is much more likely than getting a dealer to take it, especially considering that you're not buying anything from said dealer!

I think your success depends on how many Stilos are around for sale, and how desperate people are to find one. I know that personally, I'd have bought it with pretty much no reduction in the price, since the chance of finding another 1.6 Stilo would be slim here. And usually these things can be fixed for free eventually, if you have a big enough hammer. Would be worth about 5000 pounds in NZ, so you could ship it over
