Hi I have Stilo 1.9 Jtd MW( 2003) and have been getting intermittent warning when the car runs thru its pre start check, the warning being "OIL LEVEL SENSOR FAILURE".
I check Oil level regularly and when above occurs also and oil level is OK.
The above tells me its the OIL LEVELl SENSOR thats failed or possibly a loom fault so I phoned Stoneacre dealership at Doncaster advised them that Car is in Third Year Warranty and service is not yet due. I was told it would cost me £60 + VAT for the privalige of having the car put on Examiner to do Diagnostics and they would then contact FIAT to see if fault is covered by warranty anyone else had OIL SENSOR FAILURE ?

As I will be Paying for Car to go on Examiner is it Possible to Have SERVICE DUE Disabled for life, I find this annoying When I have A Service Log Book thats what a future buyer of my car will look at.
Also can the OIL LEVEL SENSOR be disabled as I do prefer checking with Dipstick .
I used to have a Renault Kangoo and its oil level indicator used to indicate Low oil in Cold Weather when level was OK so I have no trust in them. anyway.

I have a 53 plate Jtd MW, and i get the sensor warning every so often, I took mine in to the dealer re some other faults, and mentioned this, They replaced the sensor for me, Since then no problems, (Didn't pay either!!). I would rather have it up and running than not, as although its not 100% accurate it gives an indication without the need to constantly check the dip stick. I dont see the point in you asking for it to be disabled, you would be best just putting up with the 3 second beep at start up, ratehr than pay to have some techie, undo its connector and bridge the circuit --- then charge you!!! IMO good luck

Anyone know how much an oil level sensor costs and availability outside Fiat?

because if its less than 60+ VAT I will buy one and fit myself.
